| Here I am in Loja.
Not much to report. Left Cuenca today at 11:30, and got into Loja at 4:30. This is just a stopover for a night, and tomorrow I take the bus through Macara, and into Piura, Peru.
But the drive on the way here, as I'm sure is getting redundant by now, was spectacular. Both guidebooks I have mentioned something about the scenery on this stretch of road, and it still did not prepare me for the views. Today was the first sunny and warm day we had al week, which just meant that mountain views stretched far in front of me as we descended valleys and wrapped around mountainsides. We passed large grassy fields full of cows, steep cliffs with dramatic drop-offs, and just rows upon rows of amazing Andean peaks with clouds hanging all over them.
I got into Loja, and just walked around a bit. Went up to the Virgen of Loja statue for the view, and now am just killing some time in an internet shop. Its a pretty small town, and not so much to do when you are travelling solo. Unlike my hostel in Quito, the one here is very small, very private, and very empty.
Now I'm off to get some dinner, and then probably to bed early. My bus tomorrow is at 7am. |
