| | We finally got into Lima around 10am, and somewhere along the way I had decided to just keep on going as soon as possible. So my first move was to check the times and prices of some buses right in the area. Annoyingly, instead of one central bus terminal, all the companies in Lima have their own offices and stations that are spread out in one general neighborhood, but far enough away from each other to be a pain. I was able to go back to the hostel where I spent one night in November, and the guy actually remembered me! So he let me leave my bags in storage there for the day, even if I wasn't gonna spend the night (I made it seem like it was up in the air). I went to a few of the companies and found a nice bus, since there are different levels of luxury, heading north to Piura that evening. Great, done. Now some time to chill. After eating and walking around, I decided I could do one small activity, and that was to check out the large hill with a cross on top of it that overlooks downtown Lima. Its a cheesy very touristy thing to do, but I didn't have much time so why not. They have these guys all over the main plaza hocking a short tour in a van of the downtown area and the hill, and it was pretty cheap, so I did it. The hill is called Cerro san Cristobal. We drove around and learned a bit about some of the buildings and history of the downtown area. Then headed up the hill and spent some time at the lookout up there. After the tour I had time to eat some ice cream, and then it was back to the station for the next long bus trip. |
