| The trip from Montevideo to Buenos Aires can be made in a number of different ways. I chose the best blend of time and cost effieciency, which meant a 2 hour bus ride up the Uruguyan coast to the city of Colonia, then a super fast 45-minute ferry ride across the Rio del Plata on the Boquebus into Buenos Aires' port. The Boquebus is quite an amazing ship that ferries people back and forth all day, and has all the ammenities of a tiny mini-mall inside.
I arrived in the evening of Tuesday the 11th, ready to enjoy many days of just passing time in a city I really loved the first time through. I had some plans to see certain parts of the city I never got to in February, and to maybe make it to a soccer match, but nothing was really too pressing. I was also going to wait around for news from Carmin who was possibly going to be passing through the area so we could meet back up and embark on our return journeys together. Wednesday I just walked around and reaquainted myself with BsAs (the shorthand nickname that locals use). I also got back in touch with some of the friends we had made here previously, and turns out they all had a 5-day vacation for the Easter weekend and were going to Valeria Del Mar a few hours down the coast. I decided it sounded like fun, and so on Thursday suddenly found myself heading south on yet another small vacation within a vacation. |
