| We got back to Rio early in the evening, but since the weather was not so great we just relaxed in the hotel for a bit. We decided to go big on our last night and went out to eat the restaurant in the Copacabana Palace Hotel next door. It was a very elegant and slow moving dinner but the food was great too. After our multiple courses and lengthy conversation I think we managed to spend close to 3 hours in there, after which we just went back, packed up our bags, and went to sleep.
On Monday my bus and their flight wasn't until the afternoon, so we spent the morning walking around Ipanema's markets and malls and doing some shopping. I finally got myself a pair of board shorts, after almost all of my beach time was over and the summer in South America was ending. Anyway, we eventually headed back to the hotel and it was time to go. After spending the last 10 days with them I said goodbbye to my parents and got in a taxi for the bus station. I was on my own again, for the first time really since I left Peru in early December, except for a few days here and there after New Year's. It was a strange feeling for sure, but I was excited to see what new turns this would lead to in the final 2 months remaining of my trip. |
